COURSE OVERVIEW

This forklift 1-day Refresher course includes self-paced learning and assessment, practical training, and assessment to provide students with the knowledge and skills to operate a forklift truck safely.

Once you have passed your course you will also be eligible to apply for a Forklift Truck high risk work licence (HRWL) class LF.

This unit requires a person operating a forklift truck to, plan for the work/task, prepare for the work/task, perform work/task & pack up.

This course covers the following skills and knowledge and much more

· High Risk Work Licence Requirements.

· Legislation.

· Hazards, Risks and Controls.

· Types of Forklifts

· Rated capacity (load Charts) How to read and understand them

· Using different attachment’s

· Pre-Start, Operational Checks & Post Operational Checks

· Rear end swing

· Stability triangle

· Operating safely including moving and placing loads

· Parking safely

A person performing this work is required to hold a forklift truck High Risk Work Licence (HRWL).
Course fee of $350* per person paid in advance. *Please refer to our Schedule of Fees and Charges for full information available from the student into tab, printed copies available from AMS Training office.

Additional fees are payable to NT Worksafe for processing of High-Risk Work Licence applications.

Where the value for an individual’s combined course fee’s is more than $1500 a deposit will be paid, with balance to be paid before the training completion.

Duration

This course is only available to students with previous experience operating a Forklift.

AMS Training offers this course through a combination of self-paced learning and assessment approximately 4 hours and 1 day face to face assessment at AMS Training 1/22 Beresford Rd Yarrawonga or onsite at your workplace.

This course starts at 8am and finishes at 4pm.

Learning materials are made available to all students once course fees are paid allowing self-paced learning prior to the course.

Assessment

How Do I Study for My Assessments?
We send your learner guide with all the training content, and pre-course assessment material to help you check and monitor your progress once course fees are paid.

You will need to self-study and complete all the pre-course training and assessment materials before attending your one-day course.

Ensure you bring your completed pre-course assessment material on the day of your course.

You cannot commence the course if this document is missing.

On the morning of your course, you will be required to complete the Closed Book Forklift Assessment Instrument. This assessment must be completed as a closed book exam with no reference material or electronic devices allowed. You will be provided with a calculator. These assessment conditions are the same in all states and territories.

Entry

Minimum 18 years of age.
• English at a level that enables the safe performance of high-risk work.
• Previous experience operating a Forklift.

To be eligible to apply for a High-Risk Work licence you must:
• Be 18 years of age
• Reside in the Northern Territory
• Complete training through a registered NT assessor and provide the assessment report no more than 60 days from the assessment date.
• Not hold an equivalent licence under a corresponding Work Health and Safety law unless that licence is due for renewal
• Be able to carry out the work to which the licence relates safely and competently

Reading.
Identifies and interprets information from workplace procedures, documentation, legislation, and regulations.

Numeracy.
Uses equipment operating capacity schedule to confirm safe weight load limits.

If English is a second language for participants or has any concerns with Language literacy and or numeracy or any other learning challenges or needs, you should discuss with the administration team prior to enrolment and trainer assessor prior to the course commencement.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued an AQF certification. Training and assessment are provided in line with all Registered Training Organisation obligations including but not limited to providing quality training and assessment outcomes & complying with the standards for RTOs 2015.

Once you pay, we email you the learner guide and you can study for your course.

You will need to complete a closed book exam for the Forklift and EWP High Risk Work Licence courses.

We offer a free resit for anyone that does not pass on their first attempt.

We have smaller class sizes, so the trainer will have more time to assist you.

A verbal assessment may be used for the closed book exam, if required.

Night class options are now available.

We all get busy during the week but the great news is, AMS Training offer after-hours courses. Options available include public and weekend Forklift and EWP courses.

We also offer after-hours courses and Verification of Competency (VOC).  For group bookings this can include night classes or weekends.
